Media that Evangelizes

  1. What a great video!!! I love the part where the young boy is asking his teacher if she knows about computers. Truth is though...our students do know so much more than most of us do about digital technology. This is why it is so important to utilize technology in the classroom. If we don't, we are going to bore the students to death--there will be no hope of keeping them engaged. Thinking about this and thinking about the video talking about teachers and students being partners in learning made me think that we as the educators may be able to learn as much from the students about technology as they learn from us on other subjects.

  2. Interesting take. Thanks for sharing the Video. The wiki site is chock full of ideas as well. Nice work.

A couple years back I recall reading about a study Microsoft conducted regarding gaming technology and participant engagement. Seems most agree gaming is engaging to young minds.

However, Microsoft asked why young minds gravitate toward games like Grand Theft Auto instead of toward miniature golf type games.

    Know what they discovered?

Turns out the next generation is "bored" with the monotony of life as it's presented in the mainstream. They "want" to experience risk of death (virtual) and re-strategize until they "win."

I share this to say; technology must do MORE than engage. Entertainment can engage. But does it "enable, empower, capacitate, etc.?"

This is my challenge to you. How will you visionize students to rise to the challenge of overcoming insurmountable odds and gaining victory through learning, at a price? Will your students become price-payers?

    Nice work. :-)
